If I’m being honest, most of my holiday shopping each year is done while I’m on the couch drinking wine and watching holiday movies. Yup, I’m one of those people who orders almost everything on Amazon. But not this year… this year, I’m shopping local (or at least attempting to shop local more).
Yes, everyone does a holiday wine gift guide, but I want to inspire you to rethink your wine gifts and instead of getting things off Amazon (ok, one of these is from Amazon), go out and get something local!
For your artsy friend who drinks unique blends
Mari Tome Uncorked Collection Jewelry
What better way to show your love for the Finger Lakes than by wearing local jewelry featuring cork! Created by Maressa Merwarth, the Uncorked collection of jewelry features a range of metals and cork, and is the perfect way to show your love of wine in a tasteful and beautiful way.
I am head over heels in love with the cork necklaces. My mom has one with mixed metals that is gorgeous. Maybe someday I’ll get one (psst… hint hint Christmas gift for me!).

Circle of Vines by Richard Figiel
If you’re looking to learn more about the history of the Finger Lakes as a wine region, then you need to get Circle of Vines: The Story of New York Wine (Excelsior Editions).
Figiel takes you through the history of the entire state, from its geological beginnings to the rise and fall of the wine region in the 19th century, and how the modern landscape of wineries developed. It is a truly fascinating book and definitely worth picking up!
Finger Lakes Wine Country Puzzle
Ok, you’re thinking… who does puzzles these days? Well, when you’re snowed in and looking for something to do while enjoying a few glasses of Finger Lakes wine, a puzzle is perfect. It’s a great way to relax after a long day, and this one has a fun FLX theme that is a little challenging but not overly frustrating.
For your friend who doesn’t yet know the awesomeness of FLX wine
Wine Trail Passports
If you’re looking for a fun way to explore new wineries, the wine trail passports are perfect. Each lake has their own passport, and once purchased, it gives you free or discounted tastings and other perks. It is a great way to explore new wineries, and is a good deal if you’re planning on doing multiple wineries on the trail.
Cayuga Lake’s Vino Visa offers a variety of discounts at 14 different wineries from free tastings to discounts on bottles.
Keuka Lake Wine Trail’s Keuka Passport includes a free tasting at each of the trail’s 5 wineries, and a selection of coupons you can use.
Seneca Lake Wine Trail has two options; the Polar Passport which is valid through the end of March, and their Weekday Passport valid Mondays through Fridays. Both offer free flights at 16 different wineries on the trail.
Check out their website to see what the participating wineries are- if you’re planning to go to the wineries listed already, it’s a great deal!
For the person who has everything…
Finger Lakes sparkling wine
Need I say more? Check out my post from last year on bubbly for inspiration.
BONUS: Red Tail Ridge Winery is doing a sale where you can get three of their sparkling wines for $90 (that’s a 21% savings!). I’ve had all three, so trust me, this is a delicious package.
Wine Club Memberships
As Cousin Eddie says in Christmas Vacation, it’s the gift that keeps on giving. Wine clubs are a fun way to get more involved in your favorite winery, get special bottles other people don’t have access to, and it is a fantastic way to support local!
